Artist in residency program and painting!

I just wrapped up doing a artist in residency program at Beaconhills College. It really was a awesome opportunity and I cannot thank everyone involved enough! I have embedded a youtube video below with the first painting I completed  across the two weeks and it goes into depth exactly what I was doing. Enjoy!

Avocado mountains!? Painting and Timelapse

With this painting I was further developing and exploring a style I have been working with. Combining two objects/locations that don’t normally belong together and making them look as if they could. Creating little worlds. I go more in depth into why and how I painted this piece in the timelapse video linked down below.

Artist Block (With Time Lapse video)

Artist block… where to start. It’s kind of a weird thing, it’s frustration, anger, anxiousness. It’s kind of like all you want to do is create and put something on the page, but you feel like whatever you do is going to be irrelevant, you don’t have the skills to do so, you lack thought and direction.

You get stuck in a funk, a place that breeds monotony and stale thought, it’s kind of like limbo. For me the way out of this is to just throw something at the page and see what happens, with no pre judgment or expectations. In this case it’s a self portrait of me expressing what it feels like. It was about doing something different to what I normally paint, different style, different colours and now I’m ready for the next one.

Video in the creation of this piece below..
